Looking For A Job In San Diego?

Many people are unemployed and continue to look for the perfect job. In this difficult economy, perfect jobs are hard to find. It’s important to realize that your next job may not be your “lifetime dream job”. Try to find a position that is in your field of interest and then work your way up the corporate ladder. Try not to be as concerned with the salary, but focus on your ability to prove yourself in a stable company that has a strong financial future. Always remember that many CEOs started in the mail room and proved they were capable of running the company.

There are many ways of applying for jobs. Some people apply the old fashion way by filling out an application. Some are applying online and using social networks to direct them to employers. The most cost effective way is to utilize a qualified staffing company to help open the door to a new career. Most staffing agencies have multiple clients who are in need of qualified employees, either on a temporary basis or full time. What ever way you decide to look for a job, remember some of my recommendations.

Never appear to be desperate! No matter how you feel, you want to appear calm and confident. Dress professionally and practice talking about your past work history, highlighting unique accomplishments. State the facts of why you were successful and why you would be a good fit for the company. Provide a mental bridge for the interviewer to actually see you performing their job by correlating your unique skill sets to the requirements that were stated in the job description.

Do your homework on the company! Know what the company does and envision how you would be an asset because of your experience or strong work ethic. Don’t be afraid to talk about your skills acquired going to school or even staying at home. Think about how your life’s experiences have better prepared you for the workplace. Ask the interviewer how they feel about the company, then use that information to connect you to the job. Look for the clues within their website, brochures or even the people doing the interviewing.

Be professional in person and on the internet! Know that everything is recorded so don’t have any unprofessional photos or comments that can be viewed by potential employers. Your life is a roadmap to who you are today, so use the internet to prove that you are a professional and ready to be an asset to your next employer.

Follow up and be persistent! Show your future employer that you are not afraid to follow up with a thank you note or email. Show them at you want to position by staying in touch on a weekly basis. Don’t be rude, but gently make them aware that you want to job and you’re willing to work for it.

These are difficult times for average people to find work! Don’t be a mediocre job hunter. Showcase your professional skills and abilities in your job search and you’ll be rewarded with a great opportunity!

Why are Businesses Turning to Staffing Firms During this Economic Downturn?

Staffing firms actually help businesses save money by the eliminating all the prescreening and sourcing for their HR staff. This time consuming process is reduced to just a few selected interviews with candidates that fully qualified, including background and reference checks. Knowing the company’s corporate culture and intricate details of each department, allows the staffing company to select the best possible candidates in the marketplace.

Staffing firms reduce the employment costs for companies by absorbing all payroll liability and costly benefits for employees. This allows companies time to make good hiring decisions after a candidate has actually been working on the job for three months before to bring them on as full time company employees.

With unemployment costs on the rise, it’s critical that companies have the ability to evaluate an employee’s performance before risking the extended unemployment costs if they are not a good fit. The staffing company is totally responsible for all unemployment claims and time consuming hearings.

Most staffing firms do complete background checks and drug testing before employees are hired on a full time basis. This ensures all employees are screened before they even start their first assignment. Businesses don’t have to worry about co-employment issues of screening themselves. Businesses can feel assured that they have the best employees working for them, even if it’s on a part time or temporary position which can work into full time after the candidate has a proven track record.

Staffing firms should be well acquainted with their client managers, so that the company makes better hiring decisions. A quality staffing company should assist their clients in providing free outsourcing services to reduce unemployment claims by assisting past employees in transitioning to new careers. Depending on the size of the company, an assigned account manager would be on call 24/7 to assist you with emergency weekend or after business hours recruiting.

All staffing firms should educate themselves about your business, analyzes your procedures, and provide staffing solutions that are profitable, measurable and attainable

Recent surveys show critical issues challenging HR Managers include retention of employees, impending changes due to baby-boomer retirement and a need for training and development. Engaging employees in their positions is crucial to retaining talent. A recent workforce study revealed a disconnection between employer and employee perspective that contributes to retention problems. On average, nearly 40% of U.S workers intend to find a new job in the next 12 months, yet employees expect only 14% of their workforce to leave in the next year. Without proper planning, this gap can be the difference between success and failure in your business.
